Description
Most of us have struggled with tapping small holes. The biggest key to success is to start the tap squarely in the hole and keep the tap square while performing the tapping process. The slightest off angle will nearly guarantee the tap will snap. To solve this problem, we created the “Bench Tapper”.
We machine the bodies and turning knob from billet aluminum and press in a bronze bushing for the 303 stainless shaft to turn on. The shaft is reamed to accept a tap with a 9/64″ shank. The tap is held in place with (2) set screws so that different sized taps can be easily changed from one size to another. We use OSG taps and they all have 7/64 shanks from 00-80 thru 6-40.
